Bacterial Diseases

Bacillus anthracis and Anthrax

Coxiella burnetii is an intracellular bacterial pathogen with a worldwide distribution. Most if not all mammals are susceptible to Coxiella infection, but ruminants - cattle, sheep and goats - are the most important reservoir hosts for this bacterium and the most common source of transmission to humans. In those species, abortion is the primary clinical outcome of infection. In humans, infection by C. burnetii causes a disease called Q fever (Query fever), which can range from mild to life-threatening.
